PUT ON YOUR GREEN AND GRAB A GUINNESS: Irish eyes will be smiling at Green Parrot’s Newtown Irish Festival

6th Annual Newtown Irish Festival - Bucks County’s Biggest Irish Festival - will once again be held at the Green Parrot Restaurant Pub & Patio beginning with a pre-festival kick-off party Thursday evening March 10. The main event will begin on St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday, March 17 and will run through Sunday, March 20.


The family-friendly festival at the popular Newtown restaurant and under its 100-foot Festival Tent will include Irish step-dancers, face painting, caricature artist and a balloon artist in addition to traditional Irish food dishes including Corned Beef & Cabbage, Lamb Stew, Bangers & Mash and Shepherd’s Pie. Live Irish musical performances will include popular Irish bands under the Tent such as Blackthorn, The Hooligans, Clancy’s Pistol, Galway Guild and individual performers inside the Restaurant such as Ray Coleman, Seamus Kelleher (of Blackthorn fame), Diarmond McSweeney, Seamus McGoary and McHugh & O’Neill.

On Wednesday evening, March 16 and preceding the St. Patrick’s Day celebration, the Green Parrot will host a St. Paw’s Day fundraiser sponsored by Ned’s Cigar Store to benefit the Throw Away Dogs Project which rescues dogs to be trained as police K-9’s. Tickets for the dog-friendly fundraiser are $50 per person and it will run from 5-9 p.m. and includes entertainment, buffet, beer and wine. Beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 18 join radio station WMGK’s Andre Gardner, who will be broadcasting live during the Newtown Irish Festival. The Irish Festival will wrap up on Sunday, March 20 with a performance by legendary Philadelphia band and Jersey shore favorite Secret Service under the Tent from 5-9 p.m. Admission is $10 per person at the door Thursday, March 17 through Sunday, March 20 and gets you the full Irish experience with live music all day and night.

Another new addition to the Festival this year will be a “running o’ the green” in the Green Parrot’s Shamrock Shuffle 5K Run through Newtown which will be held Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. hosted by Boss Events. Similar to the summertime Joe Conklin Christmas in July 5K Run held by the Green Parrot, the race takes runners down Sycamore Street, up to Council Rock High Schools and Newtown Middle School and back.
